What's AES?
The purpose
of the Audio Engineering Society is to gather people together who have an interest
in anything audio related. We are a student chapter of a National AES, an organization
created to support the audio industry. Student sections were created to enrich
the education of students in audio technology. Our interests are extremely varied,
stretching across acoustics, home audio, car audio, sound recording, signal
processing, electronics, reproduction systems, etc… We try to hold events, do
demos, perform construction projects, have guest speakers from the audio industry,
go on tours of companies and other audio facilities, and overall have fun. Of
course we always hope that our members will learn something along the way. AES
is about finding others with similar interests as you. Some students even find
internships or jobs after college through contacts made in AES.
If you want to learn more, get involved, or become a member let one of our officers
know, or come to one of our meetings. They are on Thursday nights at 6:30. We
usually hold them every other week, but our schedule is flexible so that's not
always true. The best thing to do is just watch for our emails. So join our
email list so you know what is going on and when we be holding events. We also
post information on our sandwich board near Dexter Lawn. We hope to see you
at our next meeting!
