What is the Loudspeaker Design Competition?
For those who don't know what the Loudspeaker Deign Competition is, here are
the details. Participating members are divided into groups of 3 or 4
individuals to design and construct a single bookshelf loudspeaker. No
speaker building experience is required and we will teach you everything you
need to know to complete the project. Each group of participants will be
provided an identical tweeter and woofer from which to construct their
speaker. In addition a half sheet of 3/4 inch MDF will be provided for
constructing the speaker enclosure.
Lectures on loudspeaker design will begin in February and the final
comparison of each group's loudspeaker will be held in April, during the
beginning of Spring Quarter. A blind listening test will be conducted to
gauge the best sounding speaker and there will be prizes for the winners.
No one is too young, old, experienced, or inexperienced to join!
Remember the last day to sign up is February 17, and no one may enter the
competition without paying their AES dues to become a member.
